Impressive steak but soulless..
I visited the restaurant when my girlfriend was studying at Ithaca College. It was reputedly the best restaurant for steak in the area and the reputation seemed to widely agreed upon amongst her friends.
Upon arrival the sheer number of Mercedes, Jaguars and Lexus parked outside perhaps gave a better impression of what was to come. Whilst the restaurant was at maximum capacity we did not have to wait to be seated. However, we were ushered into a poorly lit side room crammed onto a tiny table with barely enough space for our sides. Service was overly professional, sterile and unfortunately not even attentive. I did perhaps get the impression they were buckling under the pressure of the number of covers.
The steak was indeed the pinnacle of the culinary evening. I ordered the Filet Mignon (14 oz.) with my preferred sides of Spinach and Mashed Potatoes with Roast Garlic. My steak was cooked to perfection, just on the right side of rare / medium rare and the sides were beautiful.
Unfortunately the truly poor service and sardine table layout did make it a long evening in this restaurant which tarred what would be a great experience in an interesting restaurant. And not cheap at over USD 140 for two with wine.
